Exchange app missing from your Play Store or App Store in India? What to check before doing anything else
App availability in Indian stores has changed more than once, and every gap attracts fake apps and download links. How to confirm what is genuinely available to you and set up a new phone without risky shortcuts.
Multiple exchanges | India | INR | fees, access and account safety
Indian crypto users have seen exchange apps appear, disappear and return in local app stores, sometimes within months. Each time that happens, messaging groups fill up with links promising the real app, and some of those links lead to clones built to collect passwords and one-time codes. If an app you expect is not showing up, the useful response is not to hunt for it elsewhere but to find out why it is missing and what the exchange itself says about access from India.
Confirm the store region and account first
A missing app is sometimes a store problem rather than an exchange decision. On Android, open Google Play, tap your profile and check the country listed under payments and profiles. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Media and Purchases, and look at the country of your Apple account. If you recently travelled or changed SIM, the region may not be what you think. Search by typing the exchange name yourself, not by tapping a link.
Read what the exchange says about India
Open the exchange's help center in a browser and search for announcements about India, app availability or registration. Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget publish notices when they change services for a country, and the help center is where they explain which features and apps are available to Indian users. If the exchange states it does not serve your region, accept that answer. Installing a copy from elsewhere does not change the service terms and exposes you to fake software.
Check the listing before you install
When the app does appear, open the developer section of the store listing and make sure the developer name matches the company behind the exchange, that the support email uses the exchange's own domain and that download counts and reviews are consistent with a large platform. Look at the most recent negative reviews; users often warn about impostor apps there. Avoid any listing with a slightly altered name, an extra word like pro or lite that the exchange does not use, or a very recent release date.
Moving to a new phone without losing access
Before you wipe or sell the old phone, log in on the new one and confirm that your authenticator app has been transferred, or that you have the backup key saved. Check the account's device management page, add the new phone and remove the old one once everything works. If you use SMS codes, make sure your number is active on the new SIM. Only then factory-reset the old device, so that you never end up with no working second factor.
Risk boundary: India Crypto Guide
Digital assets are volatile and derivatives can amplify losses. This website has no login, wallet connection, deposit form or customer-support chat. A referral link only records attribution; it does not guarantee access, pricing, rewards, approval or investment results. Availability can differ by residence, legal entity and product, so no regional access is assumed from language or branding alone.
Scenario checkpoint
- Check the country of your Play Store or Apple account before assuming the app is unavailable.
- Read the exchange's help center notices about India instead of following links in chats.
- Verify the developer name, support email and reviews on the store listing before installing.
- Move your authenticator and device approvals to the new phone before resetting the old one.
